EXTRA INFORMATION:
We do not offer meals other than breakfast. There are however a good selection of restaurants to choose from in Le Bugue and Les Eyzies [both 10 minutes away].Within 2 miles there is trout fishing, horse riding, golf and tennis. Further afield, we have several caves including the world famous Lascaux 11, with its drawings of bison, wild ox and bears - fascinating.
For the wine connoisseur, you are in a good area to explore the vineyards of Bergerac, St. Emilion, Bordeaux and Cahors. The big distilleries in Cognac are also worth a visit. The medieval towns of Sarlat and Domme are not far away with their exceptional architecture dating from the 12th century. An open air drama festival is held in July/August each year in Sarlat which also hosts a market on Saturday along the narrow streets in the square.
Amongst the nearby chateaux to visit are Chateau de Milland where the American negress Josephine Baker established her orphanage after the war and a career in Parisian dance halls and the French resistance; and Castelnaud with its full size seige engines and catapults! We also have a direct descendant of Napoleon living nearby who will show you around his magnificent collection of Napoleonic memorabilia.
From mushroom caves to paper making - the list is endless of places to visit in the Perigord - "something for everyone" springs to mind, so all we can say is come and experience it for yourselves!
